Stuffs Moms Would Love To Do Alone

Check out 10 things moms would really love to do alone.

1. They Would Love To Eat A Meal Alone

Sometimes you just want to eat a quick sandwich, without having to give at least half of it to your curious child. You can’t even finish off a glass of orange juice without someone else having a quick sip and sticking their fingers in it.

Every so often, you sit in your car and take 10 minutes to slowly enjoy a bar of chocolate to yourself – ahhh, bliss!

2. They Would Like To Do Their Make-Up Alone

They say putting make-up on while you’re in the car is hard – try doing it with a toddler hanging off your arm. Now you have a child, lip liner and eyeliner are for special occasions; trying to put them on while your child grabs your hand leaves you looking like the Joker from Batman.

You really appreciate any chance you get to put on make-up alone now – which is something you never thought you would appreciate.

3. They Would Love To Watch Something On TV

Most of your TV viewing is re-runs of cartoons, so getting the opportunity to choose what’s on the TV is exhilarating. Trashy reality TV, or a cheesy soap – your kids find them boring and your partner silently judges you for watching them, so they are saved for your rare, peaceful moments alone.

4. They Would Like To Read Alone

Getting the chance to sit down and have a good read is something of the past for most moms, as there simply isn’t the time. Most of the reading you do is to your children, but about once a year you get to snuggle down with a good book – and it is simply the best night of the year.

5. They Would Love To Go To The Toilet Alone

Children are the only humans who don’t understand bathroom etiquette, so you are used to going to the toilet with an audience.

On the rare occasions that your child is having too much fun to join you, you treat the bathroom as a holiday. You can check your messages and emails, and flick through a magazine – who knew how much fun you could have in there?!

6. They Would Like To Check Their Email Alone

Going on your laptop around a child can be very tense; spend too much attention on the laptop and your child may try to take it for themselves, which normally ends in tears – your own, of course.

It isn’t very fun explaining to your child why you’re emailing your boss, either; they will pull a face that makes you feel very boring and uncool.

7. They Would Love To Shower Alone

Many moms dream of a long, luxurious, hot shower, but any shower without interruptions is a good one. If you manage to wash your whole body and hair in between random conversations with your child as they walk in, you feel pretty proud and accomplished – but you’re pretty sure it will be another few years before you actually get to spend more than five minutes in the shower at a time.

8. They Would Like To Fly Alone

Plane journeys as a mom are high stress; looking after passports and boarding with children can be a real struggle. As you try to entertain your children for 4 hours while you fly, you fondly reminisce on the days when you could just order a drink and have a flick through a magazine.

9. They Would Love To Shop Alone

If you do the weekly shop with your children, you know that shopping alone is truly a holiday in itself. You feel so carefree you almost don’t know what to do with yourself. You never knew that doing the food shop could be so much fun – you could easily spend half an hour each in the cosmetic and snack isles alone.

10. They Would Like To Drive Alone

Most of your car journeys are filled with non-stop requests from your children and the Frozen soundtrack on repeat.

Whenever you get to drive alone you put on your favorite album, savor the lack of questions and even buy a drive thru coffee – perfect!
